Where I'm From

By JackW ~ inspired by author George Ella Lyon

I am from the soccer fields
from the heat of a scorching desert
I am from the sprinting upstairs after turning off the basement lights
(Pretending I am being chased by a monster)
I am from the cries and the laughter
but for good reasons
from the ''I CAN''
and the ''TRY HARDER''
rolling around in the grass
that cushions a pillow for me to lay on

I am from the play then pay
from the walking on the streets
from the Pele's to the Messi's
I'm from sports, sports, sports
the NO PAIN NO GAIN
I am from the music
from the drumming and the hip/hop/rap
the last minute homework
I am from the humble WIN attitude
from the views of the mountains
I am from the concrete jungles

I am from the Wahlenmaier's and Barton's family tree
from the holiday gatherings and Family Reunion’s
from the pain and memory loss of my grandma’s Alzheimers
I am from the pictures my family take
Pushed into photo albums
I am from God's creation
